Games We Wish We Could Host II: Could Schedule 1 Turn Out Good?

Games We Wish We Could Host II: Could Schedule 1 Turn Out Good?

A lovely view of Whatever This Town Was Called

The struggle of finding games that we can play together has been excruciating here at EVLBox. As someone who is pretty prone to motion sickness, most FPSs (and first person games in general) are completely off the table for me. And games like Peak and any other multiplayer “game of the month” - as we’ve been referring to them as - just don’t hit after playing them once or twice.

The only thing that has stuck lately is the objectively ugly, one-man run project of Schedule 1. With its monotonous drug-making, daily tasks, and quite entertaining moments, this game has us coming back quite often. Unlike our other attempts at picking up the hottest, soon to become Steam Library padding, this one does actually do the trick.

Lookin’ at all my Steam games I don’t play

I love any game that has me do the most mind-numbing task over and over again. Harvest Moon (AKA Story of Seasons, Natsume can eat a dick) has been one of my favorite series as far back as I can remember. So when I found out I could live life as a humble farmer, I was hooked. I’ll spend hours on end going between watering and harvesting my crops, to cooking, mixing, jarring, and carefully shelving all my drugs I’ve painstakingly put my heart and soul into growing. The one part I couldn’t keep up with in singleplayer was dealing, so when I got the rest of the crew into it, I fully fell in love with the game. They do all the legwork, and now I never have to leave my barn. It’s so cold here.

ANYWAYS, the more exciting part of the game for anyone else is probably dealing. You get to go around, make a ton of cash, see the effects all the mix-ins cause to your customers, and absolutely ruin this already not great neighborhood. Our team’s best strategy is to immediately do our part in society and kill every cop in sight. Gotta make sure the coast is clear so we can run our business with no interruption. Once we ensure our safety, we spread out and sell as much as we can, taking breaks to check in on our NPC dealers to make sure they are supplied and to collect their earnings. Time freezes once 4AM strikes, so we just keep on trucking until we run out of supplies. Or until I’m tired of cooking.

The M*th minigame is the worst and I hate it.

The new update that added a cartel has made things much more interesting too. It creates a potential threat. Sure, there were police before, but they really don’t do too much. They’re easy to avoid or knock out. The cartel, however, will chase you down randomly, attack your dealers, steal from dead drops you might use around town, and hopefully more soon. It breathes into the game a little bit more life that it was missing. Sure it still feels a bit too easy, but it’s getting there.

Our Fully Automated Docks Building. It’s as much automation as I can handle. I can’t enjoy Satisfactory. It makes me sad.

Now, to make this relevant to EVLBox as a business. What if this game was constantly running on a dedicated server? Your dealers are out and about making you money while you’re busy doing your lame normal job in real life. You have your hired goons cranking out so much product, that you have to hope another property is going to be added soon to be able to hold it all. The cartel is screwing up your plans and are leaving a huge mess for you to clean up when you come back. Best of all? You can have more than four people at a time. Wouldn’t that go kinda crazy?

I deserve a higher payrate for my art.

We can only hope at the moment, as updating a game with no team to help you with the workload is probably disgustingly difficult. If this were to happen, I would imagine it being in the far off future. But, if we even see a mention of the possibility, you can bet we will be on it faster than we were with Tower Unite.

It’s a silly thing to hope for dedicated servers, in Schedule 1’s current state. But a guy dressed down to look like a penis can dream, right?
